You Can Be An SEO Guru

If you are looking to become an SEO guru, either so you can rank one or more sites at the top of Google or because you want to start an SEO business it really isn’t that hard. SEO is a pretty simple operation once you know some basic steps to actually getting sites ranked in the search engines.

Get at least 5 websites ranked in the top 10 in Google. You don’t need to have even a single number one ranking, most people are happy with a first page listing. You need to have several sites that you are the administrator to ranked in the top 10 in Google so that you will turn inquiries in to clients.

Make sure to keep track of any changes you do, how long they take to work and what the results of them are. Also be patient, I have made changes before that appeared to kill my rankings but then in 2 weeks I actually jumped way above where I was originally ranked. Very few things will show positive results in just a few hours or even days for that matter.

Learn a science to finding keywords. Use things like the number of searches, the number of ranked sites or the competitive index on keywords. You need to know how to identify words you can actually rank for and then put those words into action. There is a fine line between a competitive keyword and a monster that you will never rank for.

Use smaller pages to go for other longer tail keywords to draw more traffic. A site with tons of pages ranked in the search engines will draw a lot of traffic. Just try to funnel all that traffic to a page that makes you money and you win!
