Learning From My Mistakes
I’d like to take this moment to point out to members of the NZPCS Program (and any others that have created their own sites or blogs) that there may come a time where something goes drastically wrong.
For those that regularly check in on this blog you’d be right if you assumed that things seemed to be missing. I had a rather large set-back recently where I accidentally deleted the database to this blog. It was one of those occasions where I wasn’t paying quite as much attention as I should have been when I was setting up my article directory, through doing one incredibly silly thing I found myself with a very blank blog.
While I was able to salvage a lot of it, I couldn’t get back any of my earlier posts so I’m in the process of trying to remember what I wrote about and what sections I need to re-add etc. The annoying part of it all being that if I had simply done a back-up of the blog (and/or kept copies of my posts on my computer) I could have saved myself a lot of trouble.
I’m taking this moment to remind you all that you need to keep some sort of record of what work you have done – be it a backup, extra computer copies or hard printouts etc, of everything you do – and not just things like id’s and passwords etc.
Hopefully though I’ve learnt from this mistake and by passing it on to others no one else will go through what I just did
