Editing Your NZPCS Blog Theme

Once you’ve uploaded your NZPCS blog theme you’ll need to make a few changes to it, this may seem a little daunting but it’s not too hard (and remember that I’m always happy to guide you through each step)

The first things you’ll want to do are change the sidebar, header and footer. To make these changes open your blog dashboard and click on presentation, from there open the theme editor and to the right of the screen you’ll see a list of files that make up your template.

Open the first you want to change eg footer – you’ll want to change this for example to place your adsense code in.

You will also want to change your sidebar – where you’ll want to add your get response code so others that are interested can receive your autoresponder messages or add any affliate banners etc. When editing this page for example you can simply paste any links or banners right at the top of the page (before the < starts) or at the bottom of the page after the other code etc. The instruction site also gives some brief examples of adding anchor text (the html code you need etc)
You can also place your links/banners etc in between the code on the page - so it shows up between the categories or links etc - just make sure you don't accidentally delete the code already there

I'd urge you to copy any original information first (either copy and paste on notepad or download the original file) that way if something does go wrong you can put it back to its original form.

There are other aspects of your blog that you can change; the 404 page for example - if you'd like to know a little more about that I've recently created a new blog: editing the wordpress 404 pageĀ
